A lot has happened in the week since I stopped posting and reading people’s opinions on facebook. At times it has been very cleansing and allowed me to have more time in the evenings and I have stopped rage reading people’s various posts defending the hate and turmoil that has come from Washington.
On the other hand, it has been extremely difficult not to want to show people who they voted for, both in the presidential election, as well as our members of congress. The one that really sent me over the edge was the Affordable Care Act replacement and more specifically the comments by Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) who said people will have to start making tough decisions and may have to give up their iPhones to get health insurance.
This attack on the poor really baffles me coming from the Christian Right and ProLife group.
How can you be Pro-Life and make it harder to for people have health insurance?
How can you be Pro-Life and take away free lunch and breakfast programs?
How can you be Pro-Life and deny help to refugees from war-torn areas?
How can you be Pro-Life and take away women’s health care?
How can you be Pro-Life preach Islamophobia?
How can you be Pro-Life and make it harder for LGBTQ kids to live?
Can you name me on policy or executive order this administration and congress that have passed that lines up with the red letters in the new testament?
I really don’t understand how the GOP can be the preferred party of the Christian Church.
Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In a world where this is our president and this is the image he wants to portray as who he is as a person while about 15 million children in the United States (21% of all children ) live in families with incomes below the federal poverty threshold, a measurement that has been shown to underestimate the needs of families. Research shows that, on average, families need an income of about twice that level to cover basic expenses. He and his party want to push more tax breaks to himself and other billionaires like himself while taking away programs that help our poor and needy families because they are “entitlements” and that poor Americans need to do their part and it’s not fair they have to pay more in taxes, Come on Man!
